Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that it has acquired Nixxes Software, a Dutch games studio that describes itself as “specializing in video game design, development and porting.” Nixxes Software, based in Utrecht, Netherlands, will join the PlayStation Studios Technology, Creative & Services Group in order to offer “in-house technical and development capabilities for PlayStation Studios,” according to the announcement. Prior to the acquisition, Nixxes Software had been known for working on and porting several Square Enix titles like Marvel’s Avengers, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and many more....

When Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania arrives next month, the game will offer newcomers a chance to experience content from the first three games in the series. However, it seems there will also be one major change from those games: the single-player campaign will no longer include lives. The levels themselves should still offer a significant amount of challenge, but players won’t have to worry about a “Game Over” screen. It’s a move that echoes Sega’s recent changes to Sonic Colors: Ultimate, with the goal being to make the game “less frustrating to newcomers....

Filming is currently underway on DC’s Batgirl movie, which will finally bring Barbara Gordon / Batgirl (Leslie Grace) into the DC Films world. The project has been anticipated by fans for quite some time, especially given Barbara’s array of ties to key characters and groups within the DC Comics universe. Among them is Dinah Lance / Black Canary, who serves as a founding member of the Birds of Prey alongside Barbara in the comics, and is often portrayed as one of her closest friends....

Jeff Hardy broke the news in a video with YouTuber Jared Myers this week that he’s heading to AEW. The former WWE Champion was released by the WWE back in December following his unusual departure mid-match during a house show in Texas. It was later revealed by Matt Hardy that WWE wanted Jeff to attend rehab again, but he declined feeling it was unnecessary. Matt then explained in various Twitch streams that WWE “jumped the gun” in releasing Hardy, that his final drug test with the company came back clean and that the promotion attempted to get him back into the fold via a WWE Hall of Fame induction but he turned them down....

John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) and Juann Cabal (Guardians of the Galaxy) will chart the future for T’Challa and Wakanda in a new Black Panther series launching in August. The new series follows Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Black Panther run, which concludes later this month. Ridley, once attached to develop a Marvel Television project before that studio was folded into Marvel Studios, made his Marvel Comics writing debut with a short story in Wolverine: Black, White, & Blood....

Crystal Dynamics has provided Marvel’s Avengers fans with their first look at the Avengers game’s next DLC character, Jane Foster, also known as The Mighty Thor. There’s still no gameplay of the character, but today marks the first time players have seen what the character looks like in-game. Yesterday, Crystal Dynamics stealth released The Mighty Thor: Out of Time Stealth, a special video that detailed how the character came to join the Avengers, but it did not feature a look at the character in the actual game....

Marvel Studios has officially brought back two characters that first appeared in Netflix’s “DefendersVerse” of shows. Early on in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Charlie Cox reprised his role as the attorney Matt Murdock from Netflix’s beloved Daredevil series. From that same show returned Wilson Fisk, as actor Vincent D’Onofrio appeared as the villain in two episodes of Hawkeye. Since the characters returned, there was a discussion of what that means for the continuity of those Marvel shows that once resided on the streaming service of a Disney+ competitor....

In March 2020, Mythbusters star and The White Rabbit Project co-host the late Grant Imahara created an adorable animatronic Grogu - aka Baby Yoda - and the video of the impressive creation quickly went viral. Now, Mythbusters co-host Adam Savage has gotten to see Imahara’s Grogu in person and his reaction to the prop and his reaction is perfect. In a new video (via Nerdist), Savage reacts with absolute delight as he puts on the carrier and then puts the animatronic Grogu inside and marvels at how lifelike the creation is, almost to the point of distraction....

This week’s Monday Night Raw opened with a surprise return, as Paul Heyman started the show in the middle of the ring. “The Advocate,” fresh off being fired as Roman Reigns’ “Special Counsel” last month, introduced Lesnar to the arena as the pair re-established their working relationship. Lesnar kicked things off by calling out Reigns, claiming he was the “real” world champion and told the crowd to acknowledge him. Heyman then ran down every potential challenger for Lesnar’s title, confirming that the winner of Big E vs....

Way back in 2020 it was revealed that Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo were developing an adaptation of The Electric State, a film that would star Stranger Things breakout Millie Bobby Brown and be produced by Universal. Apparently the film is switching gears and has landed at Netflix with the streamer confirming it earlier today on social media. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the movie, an adaptation of an illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag, moved to Netflix after its budget ballooned to over $200 million....

Capcom has announced The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, a compilation that will localize a pair of missing games from the popular franchise. The game contains both The Great Ace Attorney Adventures, and The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve, both of which first released on 3DS in Japan. In the games, players take on the role of Ryunosuke Naruhodo, an ancestor of Phoenix Wright. Set in Victorian-era Japan and England, there are 10 case to solve, with an overarching mystery tying the two games together....

Anticipation is building for The Suicide Squad, as fans are eager to see James Gunn’s take on the film’s eclectic group of antiheroes and villains. After the film’s first trailers and promotional material, the visual and overall aesthetic have definitely been conveyed, and it’s safe to say that each character stands out on a sartorial level. A new series of tweets from Gunn break down the process of designing the costumes for the film — and which is his favorite....

Netflix recently revealed the first lead casting for its anticipated The Witcher: Blood Origin prequel spinoff series, as Jodie Turner-Smith will play an elite warrior named Eile. The casting brought up renewed interest in Jason Momoa, who had previously been rumored to be in talks with Netflix to play a lead role in the series last year. Things have been quiet on that front as of late, though Momoa’s film schedule (titled Slumberland) might indicate he is no longer going to be a part of the series, as another project is scheduled to begin before Blood Origin starts production in April and overlaps quite a bit with it....

WWE wasted no time in building up the Money in the Bank pay-per-view card during this week’s Monday Night Raw. The show opened with Bobby Lashley accepting Kofi Kingston’s challenge to a WWE Championship match. This was followed by five qualifying matches for the two Money in the Bank Ladder Matches, aloing with the confirmation that Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair will once again meet for the Raw Women’s Championship following the controversial DQ finish to their match at Hell in a Cell....

Former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier has made it no secret that he wants to be involved with WWE in some shape or former now that his days in the Octagon are over. That seemed to inch closer into becoming a reality this week when the Olympic wrestler got into a bit of a Twitter feud with reigning WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Dwayne Johnson is teaming with Xbox and Netflix to take gamers inside of the Xbox Vault. With Red Notice now available for streaming, Microsoft decided to give players a chance to win some sweet prizes by playing a short game. The upcoming Demon Slayer video game, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Keppuutan, has shared some new information that confirms that, in addition to the PlayStation 4, it will also launch for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in Japan this year. The video game, which was first revealed early last year, is expected to follow the story of the anime adaptation while also including 2-on-2 offline and online multiplayer....

For movie fans in some international markets, a popular new movie has hit their Disney+ streams before it does in the United States. Ryan Reynold’s action-comedy Free Guy opened in theaters less than two months ago but is now streaming on Disney+ in select international markets. For viewers in the United States, the film is available on digital and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray later this month, but is not yet available on streaming....

Just as exciting as an all-new film in the Halloween franchise being unveiled next month with Halloween Kills, horror fans will also be treated to a brand-new score from iconic filmmaker John Carpenter, who just released a new track from the upcoming score. While Carpenter composed the scores for his earliest films largely due to scheduling and budgetary constraints, taking matters into his own hands to add an ominous element to his unsettling adventures, Carpenter’s compositions would go on to be just as beloved and iconic as any of the stories he put to screen....

Hayao Miyazaki has made a name for himself thanks to the legendary works that he helped create at Studio Ghibli, including movies like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Howl’s Moving Castle, but the first directorial debut for the prolific anime creator has been “lost” for some time. Recently, however, the company GKids has announced that it has licensed the original anime, Future Boy Conan, which was the directorial debut for Miyazaki and has yet to make its way to North America....
