WWE announced this past weekend that SummerSlam will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, Aug. 21. But in the days that followed numerous reports popped up regarding an NXT TakeOver event being held that same weekend. Back when WWE was touring a TakeOver would typically take place the night before SummerSlam, usually in the same city at either a smaller or the same venue. Jazwares’ AEW line of action figures continues to expand its roster, and at today’s AEW Fan Fest Ringside Collectibles revealed a number of fan favorites and the full lineups for Unmatched Series 8 and Unrivaled Series 13 and 14. Each wave features six new figures and two of the waves include recent signees like Jeff Hardy, Danhausen, Keith Lee, and Swerve Strickland. We’ll start things out with Unrivaled 13, which includes both Danhausen and Jeff Hardy as well as Matt Hardy, The Bunny, and Butcher and the Blade....

Total Film magazine features a cover story on Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam in the latest issue, and the magazine hvae taken to social media to share an advance look at some of the photos included within. While they don’t have any shots of the Justice Society, there are a number of different looks at Johnson in his wardrobe as Black Adam, the dark reflection of Zachary Levi’s Shazam. In two of the images, Adam is wearing a dark, ragged cloak not unlike the one the old Wizard in Shazam!...

Sacha Baron Cohen revealed why he decided to return for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. The project seemed to come out of nowhere just days before the United States’ last presidential election. The comedian sat down with CBS This Morning to speak about the decision to release the movie at that time. Cohen is no stranger to having a political edge to all of his comedy. Borat is a sterling example of that approach, and the second movie goes even further than its predecessor in the quest to get some laughs....

Less than a year since the show was announced to even be in the works, James Gunn has confirmed that the first season of HBO Max’s Peacemaker, starring John Cena and spinning out of The Suicide Squad, has wrapped filming. News of the completion of production comes on the heels of the list of filmmakers that stepped behind the camera for the DCEU set TV series which includes Jody Hill (Observe and Report, HBO’s Eastbound & Down), Brad Anderson (Fringe, DC’s Titans), and Rosemary Rodriguez (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, The Walking Dead), Gunn will helm five of the eight episodes in the first season....

Marvel’s What If…? series on Disney+ has a brand new poster with the Marvel Zombies front and center. Now, fans have been anticipating the very idea of the strange storyline making its way to the MCU in some capacity for years now. It seems as though they’re finally going to get their wish in an upcoming episode of the DIsney+ show. On the poster, the undead walk among the living as a worse for wear Steve Rogers and a green Tony Stark are looking pretty menacing in the middle of a city streak....

Even in a year filled with a number of status quo shifts surrounding the box office, Sonic the Hedgehog easily became a hit in 2020, with the live-action/animated hybrid entertaining video game fans and novices alike. A sequel to the film was greenlit last year, with the project lined up to be released in the spring of 2022. According to a new social media post from the sequel’s director, Jeff Fowler, the film is officially one step closer to seeing the light of day....

Author Stephen King and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot are collaborating once again with Deadline reporting that the production company is gearing up to adapt recent King novel Billy Summers. My So-Called Life and Nashville EPs Ed Zwick & Marshall Herskovitz are attached to adapt the novel with Zwick in line to direct. Details on the show, a limited-series adaptation, are light at this point with the potential for the adaptation to run six to 10 episodes with “high-end cable networks and streamers” being the targeted homes for the show....

Throughout the history of horror cinema, some of its biggest icons have been reimagined in playful ways, as the juxtaposition of deadly figures with more innocent incarnations of them delights audiences, even if this strips the characters of their intensity. One outlier in this trend, however, is that Michael Myers from the Halloween franchise hasn’t received the same treatment as some of his peers, as characters like Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees have been adapted into a variety of mediums....

Hugh Jackman has easily become a household name, with a wide array of memorable performances on the stage and screen. Former AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks haven’t wrestled since their Falls Count Anywhere six-man tag match against Christian Cage & Jurassic Express back at the Full Gear pay-per-view. They then claimed on last week’s Dynamite that they were unable to compete, causing Adam Cole to reunite with his old Undisputed Era partner Bobby Fish on last week’s AEW Rampage. It turns out Matt & Nick Jackson are legitimately injured, as the two confirmed on this week’s Being The Elite that Matt has an injured neck while Nick is dealing with a nagging foot injury....

CM Punk kicked off this week’s AEW Dynamite by teaming with FTR to beat Max Caster and The Gunn Club. Afterward, the three cut promos about Forbidden Door coming up next month in Chicago, with Punk demanding to know who his challenger would be. This prompted Hiroshi Tanahashi, an eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and considered by many to be one of the greatest Japanese wrestlers of all time, to step forward and pose on the entrance ramp....

The most recent season of Apex Legends, “Emergence,” added Ranked Arenas to the mix after the previous season first added Arenas maps to the popular video game. Arenas maps are smaller than the traditional, huge battle royale maps that the base mode for Apex Legends includes, and it also changes up the loot and number of players, limiting it significantly and pitting three players versus another three. And, it would seem, big changes are on the horizon for Ranked Arenas specifically....

Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment has some big changes planned for Wattson in Season 11, so much so that the patch notes revealed this week said “this is Wattson’s season.” The changes for the Legend consist of buffs across the board with the exception of a slight hitbox increase to make up for the removal of the Low Profile feature in the game. Even if you don’t play as Wattson, you’ll benefit from the changes as well if you’ve got a Wattson on your team since the character’s Ultimate ability has also been reworked....
