Over the weekend director Zack Snyder’s new movie Army of the Dead premiered on Netflix platforms around the world and some viewers immediately noticed a major problem, that first seemed like a hardware issue with their televisions. Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra fans are about to embark on a massive expansion of the Avatar universe. In February, ViacomCBS announced the formation of Avatar Studios. Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are heading the studio, which exists to create new stories set in the same universe as the beloved animated series. Its first project is an animated feature film, with future projects coming to Paramount+ and Nickelodeon....

Robert Bruce, the comic book and pop culture lover known for appearing on Kevin Smith’s Comic Book Men, has died at age 62. According to police, Bruce was found dead in a storage facility in Red Bank, New Jersey on Friday evening. Bruce’s brother, John Bruce, shared the news on Twitter. “I want to inform you with great sadness that Robert Bruce (my brother) has passed away this past week in his office in Redbank, NJ....

James Gunn is currently working on the highly-anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which has finally gone into production. Many fan-favorite Marvel characters will be returning for the movie, and it was reported back in October that Maze Runner and Black Mirror: Bandersnatch star Will Poulter had been cast as Adam Warlock. Gunn shared a cast photo last month and it also included Chukwudi Iwuji, an actor that’s set to appear in Gunn’s Peacemaker series on HBO Max in January....

HBO Max is partnering with Snapchat to bring free episodes of their shows to the social media platform. If you’re not using Snap as much, the app has introduced Snap Mini, which allows users to watch episodes along with their friends. Warner Bros. becomes the first major streaming outfit to take a plunge into this space on Snap. (Other places have tried to make watching along with a movie during the pandemic as well....

Freddie Stroma passed the “a-hole check.” Peacemaker series creator James Gunn reveals he called Elizabeth Banks before hiring Stroma to play Adrian Chase, the sociopathic costumed killer known as Vigilante, in The Suicide Squad spinoff series for HBO Max. Banks starred in the Gunn-directed Slither and the Gunn-produced Brightburn, working with the Bridgerton actor in 2012’s Pitch Perfect. Spider-Man: No Way Home has finally released some official concept art for Tobey Maguire’s version of the character. Billed as “Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” in marketing material, the Sam Raimi variant was a massively fan-requested element for the film. Nintendo has released a new free update for the Nintendo Switch video game Super Mario Party that adds a bunch of new online modes to the title. This marks the largest update to the title yet and comes over two years after it released in 2018. The most recent update, which was relatively minor, occurred in March 2019. As of today, Super Mario Party players can now use Partner Play and Mario Party over the internet....

Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless trended on Twitter last night after taking aim at a conspiracy theory shared by Kevin Sorbo, star of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Ahead of the restored Zack Snyder’s Justice League release on HBO Max, filmmaker Zack Snyder shares an update behind the previously announced IMAX remaster of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Actor Peter Dante, best known for his roles in numerous Adam Sandle movies including Big Daddy and The Waterboy, was arrested in Los Angeles Wednesday morning after Dante allegedly threatened to kill his neighbor over a noise complaint. According to TMZ, Dante confronted the neighbor regarding noise from a construction project on the neighbor’s home with the confrontation escalating to the point where Dante allegedly threatened to not only kill the neighbor but also harm his wife and children....
