Shane McMahon was let go by the WWE this week, according to numerous reports that popped up on Wednesday morning (first by Ringside News). McMahon made his return to WWE programming this past weekend as the 28th entrant in the Men’s Royal Rumble and, according to Fightful Select, played a heavy role in producing the match. There had also been reports of Shane trying to set up a WrestleMania 38 match with either Bobby Lashley and/or Seth Rollins, though those plans now appear to be scrapped....

Sweatpants Spider-Man is back for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 according to Jake Johnson. The star talked to The Movie Dweeb about the upcoming film and Peter B. Parker’s status heading into it. Well, according to Johnston, things are going well and you should be banking on seeing his dad bod in the Spider-Verse again. “I’ve been working on a contract,” he began. “I believe Peter B. Parker is making a return....

The CW has released a preview for “Magical Thinking”, the fourteenth episode of Supergirl’s sixth and final season. The episode will air on Tuesday, October 5th. This week, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the Super Friends attempted to gain control of the totem of courage but Supergirl was unable to pass the gauntlet - a test of courage - that would give her control before Nyxly (Peta Sergeant). The episode left off with Nyxly in control of that totem, and in the preview for “Magical Thinking”, it looks like Nyxly has managed to get another totem - and it’s causing real problems in National City....

A new set video from The Flash might disappoint some fans that were looking forward to Ezra Miller’s costume. @FlashFilmNews posted the images from Spotted Enfield of the star running around with a motion capture suit on. They’re filming in Waltham Cross and it looks to be some short action. However, fans of The Flash’s look in Justice League have to be at least a little sad that the suit might be different this time around....

The past week has been pretty great for The Suicide Squad fans, after the first full trailer and a slew of new posters were released last Friday. To add to the fun, a second trailer made its debut in theatrical showings of Godzilla vs. Kong earlier this week, before being released online on Thursday. Those who have already gotten to watch both trailers have definitely been intrigued by how wildly different they are, as opposed to just being R-rated “red band” and PG-13 “green band” versions of the same trailer....

The Suicide Squad director James Gunn thinks that superhero films could be in trouble if they don’t make some changes. In some comments to The Irish Times, the filmmaker went in-depth on what could be a problem for the genre going forward. He points to both war films and westerns as historic examples. Back in the day, both of those genres could do no wrong in the popular consciousness. People couldn’t get enough of those pictures....

Few actors are as evocative in name alone as Nicolas Cage, as a mere mention of him results in a wide variety of images immediately popping into fans’ minds. Whether you remember his time in ’90s blockbusters like Face/Off, The Rock, and Con-Air or his bevy of straight-to-video adventures or his more recent acclaim in independent efforts like Mandy and Pig, the actor has defined himself by being indefinable. The mere thought that Cage, who revels in delivering the unexpected, would be playing a somewhat stylized version of himself for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent felt like the type of project only Cage could pull off, though ran the risk of being as effective as something along the lines of Snakes on a Plane, where the concept alone is more compelling to the Internet than the execution....

Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre officially signed the contract for their WWE Championship match at Hell in a Cell during this week’s Monday Night Raw, but not before they added two key stipulations to the bout. The first, proposed by MVP, was that if McIntyre loses he can never challenge for the WWE title again as long as Lashley is champion. McIntyre accepted, then added that the match would be contested inside the Hell in a Cell structure....

America Chavez’s creator was “insulted” by Marvel’s compensation offer ahead of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Joe Casey says that the offer he received from the corporation was a “pittance.” The writer would go on to say that he wasn’t really in this for the money, but rather to make a clear path for the next comic book creator that has their work adapted....

Eternals was released at the beginning of the month, and there’s a different favorite character for every Marvel fan. The movie is filled with huge stars like Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, and more playing the powerful beings who have lived on Earth for thousands of years. However, there’s one human character who stole all of our hearts and that’s Karun (Harish Patel). Karun plays the longtime assistant of Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo, and the loveable sidekick provides a lot of laughs as well as some big emotional moments in the movie....

Fruits Basket will be premiering its final season early with Funimation! Following a strong two seasons, the rebooted anime adaptation for Natsuki Takaya’s classic romance series will officially be coming to its end with a third and final season. Officially titled Fruits Basket: The Final, this third season of the series will be making its big premiere next month as part of the massive Spring 2021 schedule of new anime releases....

Gintama: The Final is now the highest-grossing film in the anime franchise! Hideaki Sorachi’s original manga series might have come to an end some time ago, but the franchise returned for one final anime outing with a brand new feature film adapting not only the final events of the original series but with additional new material exclusive for the feature film. But while this has been promoted as the final film in the anime franchise, maybe that will change as Gintama: The Final’s box office performance has completely broken all the records for the franchise as a whole....

Haikyu is now in the midst of celebrating its milestone 10th Anniversary, and will be kicking things off with a special new one-shot coming to Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine! Haruichi Furudate’s long running volleyball series came to an end two years ago, but it’s still one of the biggest sports franchises of all time. The series is now celebrating the 10th anniversary of its first publishing and with it has been releasing a number of new projects celebrating this massive milestone....

How Not to Summon a Demon Lord went the not-safe-for-work route for the release of its newest key visual for Season 2! Following the success of the anime’s debut season back in 2018, fans had been eagerly anticipating the second season of the series. Ray Fisher had the perfect response to a Cyborg question on social media this week. The Justice League star saw a tweet where a fan wondered why Black characters end up saying Booyah in movies and TV shows. Famously, the Teen Titan’s catchphrase ended up being a sticking point for Fisher in the process of making the DC Comics movie. Notably, the development of Justice League was troubled and script changes loomed in some of the secondhand accounts of what happened behind the scenes....

Netflix gave fans their first look at Killer Book Club this afternoon. It’s Geeked Week over at the streamer and that means a load of announcements. Killer Book Club is a project that some fans might not be as keyed into. Carlos Garcia Miranda’s novel provides the source material for a menacing mystery. As of now, there is no release date for the project. However, Netflix wanted to get the general premise out there to build some excitement....

Sony has released the official trailer for Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, the upcoming family movie starring Javier Bardem and Sean Mendes. The book, published in 1965, was actually the second book to use the character of Lyle the Crocodile from author Bernard Waber. The series, which began with The House on East 88th Street, follows the life of Lyle, a city-dwelling crocodile who lives in a Victorian brownstone with a family named the Primms....

Pauly Shore revealed that he said his goodbyes to Louie Anderson this week. On Twitter, the comedian asked for prayers as he visited his friend in Las Vegas. It was just revealed that Anderson is undergoing treatment for Blood Cancer. Rolling Stone had the first report about this, and Shore gave his impressions of how the comedian is doing. Large B-cel lymphoma is a nasty disease. In the past, Anderson had been vocal about his health....
